出血騒ぎ
先日のこと、我が家の愛犬の爪を切りました。小さいことは嫌がっていたのですが、最近は“大人”になったのか、わりといい子にしてくれるようになりました。
でも、人間の方が慣れなくて、つい切りすぎてしまいました。爪の途中までは血管があるのですが、その部分まで切ってしまったので出血して、大騒ぎをしました。
といっても本人（本犬）はどこ吹く風とばかりに、血をあちこちにつけながら平気で歩いています。平気でないのは人間の方。家の中を汚されては大変だという意味もないわけではないですが、そんなに“深爪”（？）させてしまって申し訳ないという気持ちです。
犬をだっこして、その爪をしばらく押さえているのですが、なかなか止まりません。止血できたと思っても、また出血が始まります。最後は人間用の傷を押さえるテープを使って、さらにしっかりと圧迫止血しました（私が自分の指のひび割れに使うために持っていた物です）。もしそれで止まらなければ、医院に行って専用の止血剤を持ってこなくては・・などと思ってもみたものです。
幸いテープの効果があったようで、出血騒ぎはおさまりました。こんなことぐらいでバタバタしていたのですから、当の犬は何て思っていたでしょうね。
もっとも、普段は放っておかれることが多い日曜の昼間に、“ご主人”に１時間ほどもだっこされ、なでられていたのですから、それはそれで満足していたことでしょうね。「怪我の功名」とは、このことかも(^_^;)

我が家のハムスターも爪が伸びると切ってあげなければいけないのですが、針の先より細い爪で、とても緊張します。しかも抱っこ(にぎる？）すると、じっとしてくれません。毎回悪戦苦闘するのですが、結局切ることが出来なくて動物病院に行くことになります。獣医さんにかかると、おとなしく爪を切られているので不思議です。
