赤ちゃん誕生
今日は仕事始め。寒風の中、体調を悪くした子どもたちがたくさん来院されました。お正月休みの間、ずっと我慢していた子もいて、申し訳ない気持ちももちながら診療していました。
ところで、新年早々におめでたい話です。我が家に赤ちゃんが生まれました！ と言っても、もちろん私がまたパパになったわけでもなく、もちろんジジになったのでもありません。医院で飼っている熱帯魚にベビーがやってきたのです。
診察室の中に置いてある水槽の方ですが、１か月ほど前に水質を悪くしてしまい、一時は全滅状態になってしまいました。新しいお魚たちを入れたのですが、まだ水質が落ち着かなかったのか、年末にはたった２尾になってしまいました。でもそれがオスとメスだったのが幸いしたのでしょう。昨日、６尾もの赤ちゃん魚が泳いでいるのを発見！！ 元旦と２日にエサをあげたときには気づかなかったので、２日の夜出産したに違いありません。
この熱帯魚はミックスグッピーという種類。胎生魚で、メスのお腹の中で卵からふ化し、もう一人前の（？）形をして生まれてきます。写真の中央やや左に、右奥から手前左に向かって泳いでくる赤ちゃん魚が見えていますね。長さはまた１センチもありません。小石が写っていますが、それに比べてもまだまだ小さいのがよく分かると思います。
この赤ちゃんたち、今日のところは元気に泳いでいますが、果たして無事大きくなってくれることでしょうか。水質管理の仕事も、さぼらずにやりますので、どうかちゃんとした大人になって下さいね！
