生後6か月のインフルエンザ予防接種は？
私の知人から、生後6か月の乳児にインフルエンザ予防接種を受けさせた方がいいかどうか、お問い合わせがありました。次のその返答です。
小児に対するインフルエンザ予防接種は、日本では公式のものがありません。任意接種で行われ、年齢の制限はありません。
一方アメリカでは生後6〜23か月の乳幼児は、インフルエンザに罹患した際のリスクが大きく、高齢者とならんでインフルエンザを受けるべき対象にして指定されています。数年前よりそうなったのですが、昨年はこの年齢で６割程度が接種を受けているという報告がありました。（生後６か月未満の乳児は、その周囲の親や保育者などが接種を受けるべきとされています。）
日本ではアメリカの例にならって、生後６か月以上の乳幼児に接種を勧めている小児科医が多いです。さらに、日本特有の問題として、インフルエンザ関連脳症が高頻度に起こりうるということで、満２歳以上の幼児にも接種をお勧めしています。
もっとも、日本とアメリカのワクチン接種量にそうとうの違いがあります（日本は少ない・・）。そのためか、日本のインフルエンザ予防接種は小児に対して十分な効果がないとして批判があります。（有効性に関する証拠が得られないため、公費の対象にはまだなっていません。）
ということで、お子さんの接種はお勧めをしたいとは思いますが、残念ながらそれで十分ではない可能性があります。（逆に接種を必ず受けた方がよいとまではいえません。）それより他のご家族の方（親御さん）が接種を受け、流行期にインフルエンザ・ウイルスを家庭内に持ち込まないような対策をとっていただく方が有効かと思います。
