台風接近中
アメリカ・ニューオリンズをハリケーン＝“カトリーナ”が襲ってから１週間。
現地ではやや平静を取り戻してきたかのような報道がある一方で、悲惨としかいえない状況はとても改善していてはいません。
水に埋もれた街にまだ多くの人たちが取り残されています。
犠牲者の数は数千に上るという話も。
街の復旧どころか、水がひくめどすらたっていません。
当然予想されていなければならない自然災害に対して、あまりに手を抜いていたのではないか。
あるいは、黒人に対して差別的な考えをもっているのではないか・・
そんな疑念すら感じてしまいます。
日本でも、今この瞬間に大型台風が襲いかかろうとしています。
昨夜は東京都内で激しい集中豪雨があり、大きな被害がでました。
わずか１時間に100ミリ以上の雨が降り、河川があふれたとのこと。
実は私はその直前まで都内にいました。
少し雨模様ではありましたが、まさか大雨になるとは予想もしていませんでした。
ニュースの映像を見ていて、背筋が寒くなる思いでした。
そして台風14号そのものが、九州に近づき、上陸しようとしています。
暴風域は“カトリーナ”よりも大きく、強さもひけをとらないようです。
速度が遅く、じっくりとなめ回すかのように日本列島を縦断していくとのこと。
強い風とともに大量の雨を長時間にわたって降らせ続けることになります。
災害には十分に警戒をしていて下さい。
雨が降れば大雨になり、晴れれば渇水騒ぎ。
メリハリがついているといえばそうですが、困ったものです。
何事にもほどほどがいいですよ。
