蓮祭り異変！？
昨日も書きましたが、当地の蓮祭りが今開催中です。
高田城跡公園には大きなお堀がいくつかあり、そこに東洋一といわれるほどの規模で蓮が花を咲かせます。
公園内ではいろんな催し物も行われます。
そんな蓮祭りが開かれているはずなのですが、今夜はあれ？？
まだ開かれていないのかと思って、会期を確かめたほどです。
でも、確かに今月１日から始まっています・・
それは、夜になってから、あまりに暗いからです。
公園ですので、多少の明かりはいつもついています。
蓮祭りが始まっているというのに、普段以上の明かりが何もないのです。
ところによっては真っ暗の歩道もあります。
なんともさびしいものです。
昨年まではこんなこともなかったのに。
その原因は灯籠です。
市内の小学生の作った、数多くの灯籠が歩道にそって頭上に飾られます。
毎年のことなのですが、小学６年生の宿題（？）になっているようで、なかなか楽しい図柄のものや、すばらしいものがあります。
それを眺めながら、蓮の咲くお堀の周りを散策するのも、なかなかいいものです。
そして、親御さんやご家族の方が、お子さんの作品を見に来られている様子も、見ていて心がなごみます。
真夏日の続くことの多い当地では、夜になって夕涼みがてら散歩をする方もおおぜいおられます。
暗くなってからは、灯籠の中に電灯がつけられるので、子どもたちの力作の絵が中から光り、いっそうすてきに見えるものです。
それに、頭の上の灯籠が足ものを照らしてくれるので、夜の散歩も安心してできるというものです。
でも、今年は違っています。
朝や夕方に散歩しているときには気づきませんでしたが、今夜はそれが分かりました。
灯籠に明かりがともらないのです。
もしや蓮祭りはまだ始まっていないのかと勘違いしてしまったのは、そのためです。
実際は違いました。
灯籠の中をのぞき込むと、電球はなし。
灯籠の上も、それをつるしているワイヤーだけで、電線は最初からつけてありません。
今年は、夜の灯籠見物は中止ということのようです。
そして、暗がりの中を散策してくれと言っているかのようです。
どうしてそうなってしまったのでしょう。
毎年市民が楽しみにしているのに。
蓮祭りと名うっているのですから、夜の犯罪予防の点からいっても、大いに問題です。
予算不足？
市？ 観光協会？
どんな理由で、誰が、どこの団体がそんな決定をしてのか、ぜひ知りたいものです。
そこに、灯籠に絵を描いてくれた子どもたちへのねぎらいの気持ち、ご家族へのあたたかい配慮、市民の安全を願う気持ちがあったのかどうか、あったとすれば、どう反映させようとしたのか・・ぜひ教えてほしいです。
そして、寂しい気持ちで蓮祭りを見ている市民がいるということを、知ってほしいと思います。
